This story just burns me so I will cut to the chase.
Fire Chief Bob Williams of the Saratoga
Springs Fire Department has no honor.
Now let me take you back down memory lane. In December 2009 in the waning days of public safety
commissioner Ron Kim, just one week shy of the swearing in of his replacement
Rick Wirth, Kim named Capt. Bob Williams as chief of the Saratoga
Springs Fire Department on December 23, 2009. Williams is a 25-year member of
the department and a third-generation city firefighter. His father, Thomas,
served as chief of the department and his grandfather was a department member
from 1932 to 1954.
On the same day Kim named Cole as police chief. He also made the unprecedented decision to wave their probationary period so there was nothing Rick Wirth could do to reverse his decision. This was an arbitrary, bitter last stab in the back of the city by the seemingly mentally unstable Ron Kim. A man who only a week before physically and verbally attacked me in the public library in front of children on a Saturday morning.
Within weeks of Wirth taking over, Williams was already blotting
to “get Wirth” The department would have some openings and one Wirth filled with Phil
Turcotte. Turcotte was a no-brainer as a
fully trained and qualified firefighter and a graduate of the Utica Fire Academy.
Turcotte
quit his secure job as a firefighter in the Albany airport to take his position
in the Spa city department.
From the day he set foot in the department Willians
was out to get him. He had recommended another name from the list to Rick Wirth
and he was incensed that he hadn’t heeded his wise counsel. After all who was Rick Wirth to question his
judgement?
There was only one problem. By all accounts Phil Turcotte
was capable fireman and an all-round nice guy. The fact that the city didn’t have
to foot the bill for his firefighter training was an added bonus. So when it
came time for Turcotte’s paramedic internship, Williams had his number one ass
kissing minion intern Turcotte. Needless to say this pole smoker failed Turcotte
during his internship. Even though he passed all the state required tests he
was failed on subjective matters that are under the exclusive domain of his instructor.
That chiefs ass kissing lackey will be the next Lieutenant
hired in the department. His name is Mike Evans, just wait it will happen very
soon. Next 6 weeks or so. In the politics of the Saratoga Springs Fire
department it’s not how good a fireman you are all but who can blow the most
smoke up Chief Williams ass.
And for Chief Ass kisser and boot licker Mike
Evans the reward is a Lieutenants badge.

Although a seious situation this is nothing compared to the intimidation that was thrust upon the FF's who did not support the EMS service. These gestapo techniques have no place in this city and the Chief should be investigated. Where is the union, civil service and especially Human Resources on this one. of course our last HR rep got run out of town for doing an outstanding job.
Civil Service at the City level should be eliminated. We have Civil Service at the County level so why the duplication and additional costs? If it wasn't as accessible than maybe certain departments would stop playing so many games.

Sandy Hook: Huge Hoax and Anti-Gun “Psy Op”
There are obvious signs that tell the difference between genuine and fabricated event. The recent shooting of police and firemen responding to a deliberately-set fire has all the signs of being a bona fide event: there is a single consistent narrative, one shooter has been clearly identified, and there has been no good reason to doubt that the subject, William Spengler, went off the rails and committed the crimes. There are many articles about it, which relate the same basic themes: “Killer of 2 NY Firemen had semiautomatic rifle, left note”: “Police say the man who lured firefighters in Webster, N.Y., into a deadly ambush had the same make and caliber semiautomatic rifle as the one used in the Connecticut school massacre. Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering said Tuesday that 62-year-old William Spengler was armed with a .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle, a .38-caliber revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun in Monday’s ambush. Spengler killed two firefighters and wounded two others before fatally shooting himself.” However bizarre the event, there is nothing about it that suggests it was either a hoax or a psy op.
In the case of Sandy Hook, however, the situation is completely different, where we have one inconsistency after another: the mother was a teacher there and Adam was a student; the mother was not a teacher there an Adam was not a student. One shooter was involved, yet police radio reports show a second suspect was apprehended at the scene and a police helicopter video show yet a third suspect being tracked in the woods. The principal called the local paper about the shooting; the principal was dead on the scene. Excellent studies of the incoherence of the Sandy Hook narrative have been published by Niall Bradley, “Sandy Hook massacre story spins out of control” (Veterans Today, 20 December 2012) and by Professor James F. Tracy, “The Sandy Hook School Massacre: Unanswered Questions and Missing Information” (Global Research, 25 December 2012). Even NBC News has reported that there were four rather than two handguns inside the school and no long gun. There is no consistent story or coherent narrative.

To the author of this ridiculous article..... I'm not sure what your beef is with the fine men of the SSFD and Chief Williams in general, but your facts about Phil are way off base. you start out by saying that by all accounts Phil was a capable Firefighter and an all around nice guy. Well I agree, he is a nice guy. but I can't allow you to bash the chief and his members without giving you some factual truth about how Phil was as a firefighte here at the airport. Phil was trained to the basics at Utica and then put on shift . Phil struggled as a firefighter. he made critical mistake after mistake and would never take responcibilty for his actions and learn from them as most new guys on the job do. Prior to Phil leaving for SSFD, He had lost the faith of his officers and his fellow crew members to be able to do his job and be a reliable shiftmate when the pressure was on. and when he was needed the most. To put it plainly. Phil was a failure here and wasn't cutting it. When Phil was hired by SSFD he was placed on a probationary period to prove that he had the skills to become a permanent career firefighter, He again failed to do so...He not only didn't get thru training with his training officer but didn't have the backing of the 4 shift Captains that would be responsible for him if he did make it off probation. Chief Williams had no other choice but to release Phil. He did this for the safety of his men and the residents of his city.. The airport has 3 vacancies and Phil has not even been offered a job back there !! The job of firefighter is not cut out for everyone. Phil is a nice guy and I wish him well in the future, just not as a firefighter.

You forgot to mention the fact that the SSFD has protected their "friends" even though they were not good at fighting fires.
In fact, there have been several guys over the years, who have flat out refused to obey orders at fire scenes. Just ask some old time firemen, and they will tell you that what I am saying is true.

So it would seem that this is in all probability just a personality conflict between the chief and this Turcotte dude.

I totally understand. I hope you find work soon and can recover. I was on probation, passed it, top score on civil service exam, had twenty plus positive comment cards. I was fired right before the holidays and was never given the steps I was suppose to have being a Civil Service employee. My crime was questioning the assessment practice of the Accounts Dept.
Additionally, Civil Service pressured me to resign, so I hired an outside attorney and am still paying his bill.
Best thing I ever did.

Civil Service is a joke in SS. There is no protection for employees here unless you kiss some ass. If you get fired there is no recourse. And there are no lawyers in the area who will take on Civil Service cases against the City. CSEA takes your money and calls you a sucker.
