Vote to close Spa City Bars at 3am and Charter change slated for Tuesday.

Well life as we know it goes on. The City Council Pre-Agenda Meeting is slated for Monday at 9:30am. God willing and the creek don’t rise I will be attending.

There are some interesting rumors floating around the SPA city about tension among the new children in the cities sand box we call the City Council. Seems Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety and Tulip Queen runner up Eileen Finneran, broke Deputy Commissioner of Finance Lynn Bachner office door as a discussion over the county ever going along with Public Safety Commissioner “toothy” Christian Mathiesen proposal to close the cities bars at 3am turned heated. The proposal is quite simple.

Toothy has been told the county will never go along with it but he is hell bent along with steamroller Finneran to bring it to a vote.

The long awaited vote on bringing Charter Change to the voters will also be up for a vote on Commissioner of Accounts John Franck's agenda.I understand we might be in for a surprise on that front to

And finally I will salute Finance Department commissioner Michele Madigan. Who has two interesting items on her agenda.
Discussion and Vote: Saratoga Springs Housing Authority Compliance Plan HERE

And it seems she is trying to bring the city cops special drug unit to heel. One of the open secrets in the city has always been that the Saratoga Springs Police had a slush fund set up with federal DEA money to finance a special narcotics unit in the police dept. These officers have long been the princes of the police force, able to drive fast impounded DEA sports cars home at night and withdraw large sums of cash up to $5000 for unspecified payments to drug informants and purchase narcotics on the street.Discussion and Vote: Internal Controls Over PD Bank Accounts. HERE
Seems they have now caught the attention of Madigan. I admit I’ve been a little hard on her and I know take a moment to say, Thank you commissioner but take this seriously. These cops can play rough sometimes, be careful. They like this arrangement of unaudited drug money. You are getting into the dark side of the City Police.
Locals have know this for years and again I warn you, you may not like what you find behind the blue curtain.

Till next time happy mother’s day. Mine died 20 years ago, so I’m visiting a cemetery today. Enjoy her while you got her, you never know when she’ll be gone.

Never once been in any of those bars. Shut 'em all down. Even without the County on board, there are moves the city could make legally:

1. Pass a much stricter noise ordinance
2. Pass a rule shutting the electricity off to Caroline Street say at midnight
3. Vote the entire city DRY (my personal favorite)
4. Build a wall around Caroline St (think Escape from New York movie)..
5. Sell the Race Track and use the money to buy the bars and convert them to Christian Science Reading Rooms
6. Drill a natural gas well in the center of Caroline Strret and vent the methane into the area of the bars
7. Invite NXIVM into the area every night to recruit young girls for Vanguard
8. Require all bars to charge $2,000.00 per drink with most of it going to fund new low income housing
9. Legalize prostitution and offer free BJ's after midnight every evening after 12

It is pretty sad that besides Johnson the smartest council member is Skippy. he rest of these idiots need to be hung by their toes.

"4. Build a wall around Caroline St (think Escape from New York movie).."

Sperry's has already done that by building a 12 foot high sound proofing wall around their outdoor seating area (and now adding proofing directly to the exterior of their building.)

....and perhaps building on public (library) property.

Q:
How much money has the city made on the take over of the ambulances? When will we be getting a report on that?

Q:
Does anyone check to see how the uniform allowances are spent by the FD and PD? Thousands and thousands of dollars every year for new uniforms, suits, etc.
The store recipts don't tell the whole story.

It seems that 3 of the 4 City Commissioners are trying individually and as a group to infringe on the duties and perquisites of the Mayor and his Office.

They know who they are and anyone who is paying attention also knows who they are.

I think this is bullshit. In Saratoga Springs majority rule should not denote Maoist mayhem.

ENOUGH.

The Mayor should appoint a Charter Revision Commission this Tuesday night.

It's time to hear the dulcet tones and wisdom of ALL SARATOGA CITIZENS; not the chronic (rhymes with colonic) whine of the "Saratoga Citizen."

Please 11:31, let's not have another "inside job" done to create a slapdash clone crafted by the same familiar Civic clowns. You've got a Charter crafted openly and transparently... and you can send it to the dustbin of history with your "No" vote.

Kyle,

I respectfully disagree with you. The Mayor is the Mayor. His name is Scott Johnson. He has the absolute right (some would argue the obligation at this point) to appoint a Charter Review/Revision Commission.

Brent Wilkes is not the Mayor. He lost the election. Pat Kane is not the City Manager. Why should Brent Wilkes and Pat Kane be given the opportunity for another attempt to buy a failed-model government for Saratoga Springs?

The only things dusty here are old Charter change plans. Does anyone know how many have been rejected by Saratoga Springs voters?
