Finally for my forth posting of the day we take a look at part2 of the Times Union expose on the cult known as NXIVM.

The first story details the lengths NXIVM will go to silence its critics. Some of the new allegations were the role Albany County District Attorney David Soares and Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy played in this legal abortion.
Soares particularly played a sorted little role as his office employed high school drop out and certified NXIVM wackjob Kristin Keeffe to develop a case against O'Hara.

The TU states in the story
“Prosecutors working for Soares were able to get a grand jury to indict O'Hara in 2007 for alleged grand larceny, but the charge against O'Hara was dismissed by a state judge for insufficient proof shortly after.”
Did somebody say Malicious prosecution?
Malicious prosecution is a common law intentional tort, while like the tort of abuse of process, its elements include (1) intentionally (and maliciously) instituting and pursuing (or causing to be instituted or pursued) a legal action (civil or criminal) that is (2) brought without probable cause and (3) dismissed in favor of the victim of the malicious prosecution. In some jurisdictions, the term "malicious prosecution" denotes the wrongful initiation of criminal proceedings, while the term "malicious use of process" denotes the wrongful initiation of civil proceedings..
Then we have Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy who met former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger — a partner in a law firm once used by NXIVM and encouraged a criminal investigation of Joseph O'Hara.
Not in the story are allegations that State Majority leader Joe Bruno also lobbied Murphy to indict O'Hara. Bruno’s fondness for rides in the Bronfman jet along with special massage sessions with attractive NXIVM devotees is well known. The fact that politicians can be bought so cheaply is depressing.
To Murphy’s credit he choose not to get involve.
Then we have the sad story of Kristin Marie Snyder,one of the first to die in the name of Executive Success. Her suicide note read
"I was brainwashed and my emotional center of the brain was killed/turned off. I still have feeling in my external skin, but my internal organs are rotting. Please contact my parents ... if you find me or this note. I am sorry life, I didn't know I was already dead. May we persist into the future."
The yarn cooked up by Raniere to explain her death was despicable and an early sign that the man was a psychopath.
NXIVM members under the guidance of Raniere put forward a theory Snyder faked her death to escape a drug ring. Just the other day a know NXIVM member whispered to me.
“You know she’s really alive”
The TU also chronicles the travails of Toni Natalie. Another victim of Psycho Keeffe, who stood in front of her restaurant in Saratoga Springs like a Manson follower begging her to come back and be the ONE. Here’s a suggestion bitch. Do a real Manson thing and carve “VANGUARD” on your forehead I hear you already have it tattooed on your ass.
I know I skipped a lot but down to the second story.

I’ve haven’t known Joe for long but I’ve known of him. I admired his restoration of the finest Greek revival mansion in the city on North Broadway. In a city of nouveau riche with shit for brains and the taste of a philistine, Joe brought class to the city. I truly regret he ever got involved in NXIVM. Everyone makes mistakes, some say my wife made a big one when she married me, but few have paid a bigger price than Joe.
The real shame is that I believe the city {Saratoga Springs} lost a real player and a visionary .
So this post is dedicated to you Joe and just remember everyday we’re above ground and still find joy and passion in our lives, well it’s a stick in Raniere’s eye

Ethical Arts Los Angeles doing a workshop this week targeting actors in LA during "pilot season". Apparently both Landmark and NXIVM target "pilot season" during which desperate actors flock to LA to try and get noticed - leads to lots and lots of disappointment which is why the Large Group Awareness Training Cults try to pick up business by selling their "you can achieve anything you want with our help". Sad. Proximity to successful actors doesn't mean you're a successful actor. It means you're a groupie.

Jenn L Maclean Angus is a mother of three children under the age of 10. She lives in Vancouver to pursue a pretty non-existent, mediocre television acting career (about one bit part tv credit a year and a few tv commericals - certainly not worth abandoning your kids for and she's not making any real money at if when you look at her resume) and ESP/Ethical Arts Vancouver (she's the admin assistant and Sarah's personal assistant). The kids have been left in Kelowna (4 hours drive away from Vancouver) with their father who is clearly the stable and responsible adult. She's a parachute mum who goes on and one about how important her kids are yet is letting them grow out without a mother witnessing their day-to-day lives. She shows up like a weekend parent. Gee, sounds like a lot of other women involved in NXIVM. I guess the cult can justify that she's following her dream of Hollywood stardom at age 35 rather than following through on the responsibilities of being a real parent. (She's really mediocre as an actress also) In the real world that's called being selfish, irresponsible and generally a total screw up! No kidding that NXIVM has been identified as manipulating women with low self-esteem who have no center. I guess they sold her the dream about being close to actors that are having success. The poor children - but then again maybe they are better off having less contact with her.

I laugh in a satirical, yet melancholy way, after I read "Ethical Arts Los Angeles", subsidiary of NXIVM, where Mark Vicente has labelled himself as its C.E.O. according to his facebook profile, and then read this blog about the "Vanguard" (a term meaning the forefront of a movement) and his penchant for underage girls, lawsuits, gambling, harassment, and sex addiction.
Really? He's at the forefront of a movement about ethics with this behavior? What kind of ethics do these people subscribe to?
The “explanation” provided by Soares’ office is totally lame. How many other potential victims are allowed to set up shop in Soares’ office to help work on a potential criminal case? This sounds a lot more like an impropriety that was bought via A political contribution. FOLLOW THE MONEY!
I for one hope Joe takes them to the cleaner. I really hope most of all that someone will step forward to represent him pro bono - or at least for a potential percentage of the damages. It is going to be tough going up against all those high paid lawyers on the other side pro se. Then again if Susan and Kim can do it hopefully JJO can too!
I am sure he regrets evey day that he was introduced to NXIVM. That is the problem with these people is once you are involved it can be very hard to get out unharmed. And joe pushed all in against them years ago.
But the bullshit that the Albany DA allowed to go is is a word UNBELIEVABLE. They let that cunt Keefe in their offices to work on a case against Joe - I can't believe they actually said that out loud. How can this be allowed? Soares needs to answer for his actions and he needs to DO IT RIGHT FUCKING NOW. For that alone I hope O'Hara gets millions.
Seriously, you need to get some rest.
Don't give Murphy a free pass just yet. According to OHara's lawsuit, Murphy wrote a letter to the DA's in Albany County and Greene County and suggested that they go after OHara.
Really, Jimmy, did you have your head that far up Bruno's ass that you were willing to fuck over a guy who you worked with on the City Planning Board? And, Jimmy, don't you think the whole story about all of your connections to NXIVM is eventually going to come out?

I think you need to remind readers that many people continue to post comments on stories that have been replaced by new stories. Some of the most insightful comments come near the end of discussions about a given topic.
